DescriptionPrior to the introduction of roads and rail in the Clutha District waterways were the most accessible transportation networks. Places like Taieri Mouth, Port Molyneux, and later Kaitangata were important places for the transportation of imports and exports to support new communities. These areas have also been important commercial fishing hubs with the railway later being used to transport fish to markets. Though some small commercial fishing activity takes place along the Clutha coast today, these communities largely attract holiday goers who enjoy the outdoor recreation they provide.
