HistoryHina Hina/Jacks Bay is a small settlement 5kms from Owaka on the south eastern shore of the Catlins Lake. Settlers in this area worked on farms and in sawmills. A school was based at Hina Hina for a short time between 1912 and 1933 when it was consoldiated with Owaka School. Today Hina Hina remains a farming settlement with Jacks Bay becoming an increasingly popular holiday location with modern houses popping up along the shore.
