DescriptionMary Ellen Lomas was born in 1873 to John and Elizabeth nee Atkinson. Mary grew up in both Waipori and Dunrobin. Her father John was a goldminer throughout Otago and later became a storekeeper at Waipori, and later Dunrobin.
Mary was raised with her three surviving younger siblings, and her cousins, the Cotton's were not far away.
In 1903, Mary married Balclutha farmer John King at the Waipori Anglican Church.
The couple never had children.
Mary died in Dunedin on 22 August 1960 aged 88. John followed on 30 January 1962 aged 92.
