DescriptionElizabeth Augusta Rogers was born in 1844. She spent her early years in Victoria, Australia, prior to 1863 when she married goldminer William Briggs and immigrating to New Zealand.
Between 1866 and 1887 the couple had approximately eight children.
The couple initially lived in Dunedin, later settling at Harvey's Flat at the Outram side of Waipori. In 1874, the family moved to Balclutha. They were adversely impacted by the 1878 Clutha flood, and shifted to Gore in 1879. Elizabeth remained there until her death in May 1911.
