DescriptionThomas Buckley was born in 1833 at Birdhill, Newport, County Tipperary, Ireland. 30-years later, he arrived at Gabriel's Gully.
By 1865 he was mining at Waipori. Here he married Ellen Gormley, the sister of his business partner Terrance (Terry) Gormley, in 1869.
The couple had six children together.
In later life, the Buckley's farmed at Pleasant Point, before retiring to Geraldine. Ellen died on 25 February 1912 and is buried with Thomas in the Geraldine Cemetery.
