HistoryA polytechnic is located at Otanomomo. Named Telford Rural Polytechnic, it is based on land donated by the Telford family, an early pioneering family in the area. Other activites in the area once included the Bichan's flaxmill and a railway station and the Otanomomo School (1914-1968).
