Amy Matilda Cotton was born in 1881 to Robert and Margaret Cotton. In 1907, she married James. B McKinlay. James, in partnership with his brother Archie, was a co-owner of Herbert and Company's Store in Lawrence for many years.
The couple had four children.
James died in 1968 and Amy in 1970. Their ashes are interred in the Lawrence Cemetery.
