DescriptionSarah Taylor nee Cotton, 1833-1903, immigrated to the Australian goldfields with her husband Job, their four children, and her brother Robert in 1860. Two children died on boat over and another shortly after arrival.
Robert Cotton moved to New Zealand in 1863. Sarah, Job and family followed a few years after. They first settled at Waipori, however Sarah did not enjoy the treeless place and missed her home of Ireland. The family later moved to Dunstan.
In 1890 Sarah lost another child, George, who drowned in the Waipori River while staying with his Uncle Robert Cotton.
Sarah died in Dunedin in 1903.
