Back Row L-R: J.W. Thomson, J. Cockburn, J. McNeur, T. Taylor
Front Row: J. Taylor, R.H. Blair, J. Roy
James Taylor was heavily involved in the community, particularly in church affairs where he served as a member of the Popotunoa Session (along with his brother and former farming partner Thomas and - presumably - his brother-in-law Mr. Roy). James was vocal in the debates regarding prohibition of liquor (and in favour of it, incidentally Clutha was the first district in New Zealand to vote for prohibition).
