HistoryArthurton was a railway station, originally the Otaraia flag station, near the Otago-Southland boundary. At 123 metres above sea level, Arthurton was the highest point on the line between Bluff and Waiau. The area was named after Mr Arthur who was the traffic manager in about 1878.
