HistoryKaihuika was a small sawmilling and farming area in the Maclennan Valley. In 1897 the Kahuika School opened to provide education for Kahuika, Caberfeidh and Puketiro children. At its peak the school had nearly 100 students. Kaihiuka School closed in 1946.
